Bible Studies
Men's Bible Study
Meets all year long on Thursdays for one hour at 7:00am in the church library. The group uses "Seasons of the Spirit" which examines the Scripture lessons for the upcoming Sunday worship. Contact Pastor Tom at glcpastortom@q.com or 515-233-2421 with questions.
Women's Bible Study
This Bible Study meets on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month (starting in the fall) at 9:30am in the church library. We will also have various service projects in addition to the Bible Study. Contact Betty Upstill at 515-232-6044 with questions.
Small Groups
Prayer Group
Participants meet weekly on Tuesday evenings at 6:00pm for an hour. Our mission is to share prayer concerns and study about prayer. Contact Peggy Jobe at 515-232-0132 with questions.
GLC Book Club

Supper Club
Supper Club is a new adult fellowship group for Gilbert Lutheran Church. Groups of 7, 8, or 9 people take turns hosting a gathering once a month for four months, for a meal and conversation. This is open to both couples and singles. The emphasis is on fun and friendship; you don’t need to be a gourmet chef to participate. Service Groups
TLC (Tender Loving Care) from GLC
This ministry helps in many ways the people of Gilbert Lutheran Congregation by providing food and transportation, making hospital and home visits, sending cards, performing errands and odd jobs, and whatever other services that are needed by individuals and families.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
This group meets once a month for members to learn from and be encouraged by each other on the techniques of knitting and crocheting. Beautiful shawls are made to be given to those in need of comfort and caring. Contact Judy Larsen at 515-291-4282 with questions.
Service Committee
The Service committee is responsible for making arrangements for food and for serving at congregational functions, such as: the Annual Meeting, the Christmas program, confirmation receptions, graduation receptions, funerals, and special events, etc. A monthly chairperson will receive a list of people willing to help at these functions. Worship Teams
All members and active friends of GLC will become part of a worship team. The worship team assists Pastor at each worship service with such duties as ushering, reading, altar guild, communion assistants, and greeters. Contact the GLC Office with questions or to volunteer.
Banner Committee
If you look around our church on any given Sunday, you will note the beautiful banners that hang through the different seasons and events. If you are interested in developing design, make, or hang banners, please contact Dee Strenstrom at 515-232-8476.
Project Angel Tree
Right now, an estimated 2,000,000 kids have a mom or dad in prison. The number is huge, but so is the opportunity. GLC has participated yearly in this project since 1985. This ministry of Prison Fellowship delivers gifts of love and a message of hope to these children, parents & caregivers. A Christmas tree is decorated with “Angel Tags.” Each tag includes gift suggestions for a child. These gifts are purchased and wrapped, and then delivered to children as a Christmas gift from the parent in prison.
