ADULT CLASSES AT GLC
Sunday Morning Conversation Corner – Meets weekly at 9:45 AM (COMING BACK IN FALL 2021!)
Conversation Corner meets to discuss various subjects furthering our Christian education. This group will meet in Fellowship Hall. All are welcome!
BIBLE STUDIES
Women’s Bible Study – First Tuesday of the month @ 7:00 PM.
Join us the first Tuesday of the month in the Shalom Room! We study the Bible together, do devotions, and talk about life! It’s a great group! Consider joining this year and invite a friend.
Saturday Men’s Bible Study – Meets weekly @ 8:00 AM
Every Saturday men gather to study the upcoming Sunday readings. Their time together includes prayer, reading the Bible, discussion, and laughter. It’s a great group to get connected with other men in our church. This group meets in the Shalom Room.
SMALL GROUPS
Prayer Group
This group takes an hour out of their week to pray for the church, the community, and the world. It is an important ministry of our congregation. Please consider joining this group. This group meets in the first Sunday School classroom on the left in the west wing of the church.
GLC Book Club
This group meets every other month at member’s houses for lively discussion and book reviews. We are always taking suggestions for new books, and invite new members to join! You are always welcome.
SERVICE GROUPS
Backpack Buddies
The Backpack Buddy Program is an outreach ministry serving the children of the Gilbert School District, coordinated by a committed group of faithful volunteers and is greatly supported by GLC members and concerned citizens of the community.
Healthy child friendly meals are provided to sustain children who are food insecure over weekends and holidays. Bags are also available for pick up at the church during the summer months. Last year the program was expanded to include weekday snacks for several high school students.
The process has a convenient “Sign Up Genius” registration for shopping, packing and delivering the bagged meals. Our schools continue to work cooperatively with us on this project. The bags are discreetly placed in students’ backpacks at a time when students are not passing through the hallways. The children in this program are anonymous to the committee as the student records are kept in the school counselors’ offices.

Prayer Shawl Ministry
This group meets once a month for members to learn from and be encouraged by each other on the techniques of knitting and crocheting. Beautiful shawls are made to be given to those in need of comfort and caring.
TLC (Tender Loving Care) from GLC
This ministry helps in many ways the people of Gilbert Lutheran Congregation by providing food and transportation, making hospital and home visits, sending cards, performing errands and odd jobs, and whatever other services that are needed by individuals and families.
Service Committee
The Service committee is responsible for making arrangements for food and for serving at congregational functions, such as: the Annual Meeting, the Christmas program, confirmation receptions, graduation receptions, funerals, and special events, etc. A monthly chairperson will receive a list of people willing to help at these functions.
