Youth Group will be meeting every Wednesday at 8:00 PM in the Youth Room at Gilbert Lutheran Church.

ELCA Youth Gathering

In 2012, ELCA youth will be returning to New Orleans, site of the 2009 ELCA Youth Gathering. Any teenager going into ninth, tenth, eleventh, or twelfth grade, as well as recent graduates, are eligible to register as part of a congregational group. Wednesday Activities - Starting in the Fall

Each Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 pm students, parents & choir members have been eating supper at GLC. We would like to open an invitation to anyone and everyone from our community to join us for food and fellowship on Wednesdays—with busy schedules we hope you will find that one less meal to prepare one night a week is a real bonus! Meals include pizza, salad or veggies, drink (milk or juice) and dessert and will be served in the Shalom Room.  If you have questions please contact Pam Vandenberg, Coordinator.

Please use the form below to let us know if your child(ren) will be involved in conformation this fall. We will also be communicating with you through email or snail mail with a little more information about the parent meetings and brief description of the curriculum. A detailed description of the curriculum and schedule will be handed out at the parent meetings.

Our confirmation ministry is designed to help the parent(s) as they share with their child what is means to be a baptized child of God and so that they might become disciples for Christ. Our confirmation ministry begins as soon as the child begins to participate in Sunday School (3 years old and above) where they learn the stories of the Bible, the Ten Commandments, the Lord’s prayer and the sacraments.

When the students are in the 7th & 8th grades they study the Old & New Testaments of the Bible and learn how God’s Word applies to their lives.

In the fall of their 9th grade, the students are matched up with an adult mentor from the congregation. Using the “Making Disciples” material, they discover more fully how being a baptized child of God and a disciple of Christ is a life-long commitment.

This culminates with the 10th grade student making an affirmation of their faith in front of the congregation.
